Let's talk about the meditation for this sadhana. It is called Sat Kriya. It is known as a powerful meditation, and its physical practice is incredible by itself.
Sat literally can be translated as truth.
Nam means name, purpose, and/or identity.
Together, Sat Nam vibrates...
Truth is my name, purpose, and identity.
The seated posture is on the heels, with an erect spine, arms extended towards the sky, fingers interlaced with the index extended, and thumbs crossed.
Place a block under your bottom or sit cross-legged to modify the seat.
The thumbs can be placed at the third eye (between the brows) or at the heart to modify the arms.
As we chant, we physically draw the navel back on Sat (pronounced 'sut') while visualizing energy moving up the spine. When you chant Nam (pronounced 'num), you softly release the belly while visualizing the energy moving down the spine.
Sat Kriya improves our physical health with this gentle, rhythmic massage of the internal organs while strengthening the heart with the pumping motion at the navel point. This pulsating contraction and relaxation produces energy waves that circulate, energize, and heal the body.
If that all seems too much to understand, you shouldn't worry. This is truly one of those practices that the proof is in the pudding, aka practice;)
