We have been centering with the Gratitude Breath for the last five days. In the Kundalini Yoga tradition, it is considered not only pranayama (breath exercise) but also meditation.
This breath moves you from the mindset of "I have to..." to "I get to..."
So when life becomes challenging, or even if you are expecting to be confronted with a challenge like walking into a busy store, hanging out with family, or taking a test, prepare the mind and body with this fantastic tool.
How to:
Inhale softly through the nose
Open the lips, exhale easefully out the mouth
Inhale softly through the mouth
Close lips, exhale out the nose
Inhale through the nose
Switch the location of the breath on the exhale - mouth
Inhale mouth
Switch, exhale nose
And repeat.
You can practice this breath between 1 minute - 11 minutes. During our practice, we have been directing it for about 3 minutes.
Use this tool to strengthen the mind and nervous system for where you are and where you are headed.
